Vampire Hunter D by Anchefanamon Vampire Hunter D by Anchefanamon
I bought Hideyuki Kikuchi's Vampire Hunter D (the manga) recently and I'm in love with D. Again.
The manga itself is not as mind blowing as I expected, but D... oooh... I'm totally in love with his pointy nose  :D
I also feel sorry for him a lot. I couldn't resist and found next parts of the comic online, and it's so sad when D meets some nice people and helps them, and they even like him back, but in the end he leaves the town alone, cause he can't be too close with anyone, cause they end up dead or worse, changed into monsters, that A Hunter has to kill. Poor, poor D :(
Anyway. There will be more D related pieces soon. He's so inspiring
Media: black and white ink.

Thanks!

Well that depends on what country you're from, but basically online stores are the best places to look for both manga and novels. There was a cool treat on emanga.com a year ago I think, first 5 volumes were available for free and I remember spending few hours in a row devouring all of them :D so just keep checking the site once in a while. And there are many sites with scanlations all across the web, just ask uncle Google ;)

OOh! How did I Miss this one?

Did you draw this using ink pens? You did a Very good job! =D I admire good traditional media users greatly  the composition is great... it looks planned without looking static >w<... and the textures of everything look very individual (I have a very hard time with that and pens)... like his hair looks soft and his armor looks metallic... even the cracks add interest.

I don't know! :D

I used an oldschool ink and nib (my fav tools) :) I'm a traditional media junkie, wish I could draw and paint more often but digital techniques offer a much wider spectrum of effects and work simply goes faster. I just love the sound of nib scribbling and scratching on paper

Thanks again, glad you like it

Awesome! So cool. By the way, if D had any other theme i think it would be this [link] it really suits him. Please listen to it. I actually have the music box song of it.

The lyrics suit him perfectly, but the music is a little bit too cheerful I'd say ^^; but if someone did a cover that is darker and hm, more gloomy maybe? It'd be perfect D theme :)

A little cheerful, those parts might suit his "get alongs". Ya' know like those people who are a bit naive and cheer him up a little.

Ahahaha I'd love to hear him say that :D cause his face is always like that :| loved the part when Lina asks him "why don't you ever smile, does it hurt?" and he's like -_-
Though I heard that there's that one novel when D talks like... a lot O_o can't imagine that :D

XD he talked quite a bit in the first one. he'd be quiet then suddenly do epic long speeches. but he seems to get more and more broody lol

This IS a beautiful depiction of D. I rather like it a lot. Your inking style goes well with the genre, too.

Gorgeous line-work!
You've done a good job of matching the style of the manga.
Also, it's good to see some traditional ink-work. Far too much digital drifting around these days.

Thanks :) I myself prefer traditional techniques. The effects may not be that spectacular as in digital works, but for me the sound of nib scratching the paper is one of the most beautiful sounds ever

Personally, I like the aesthetic of traditional pieces compared to digital. One can look at things like brush/nib strokes, pressure weight and other things that are lost when using a tablet or other digital medium. I agree with you, though: Nothing maths the artistic experience of traditional tools.
